Texas - Two Cowboys at Sunset - Silhouettes

Texas

The culture represented at Mesa Verde reflects more than 700 years of history.  From approximately 600 A.D. through 1300 A.D. people lived and flourished in communities throughout the area, eventually building elaborate stone villages in the sheltered alcoves of the canyon walls.

This is postmarked in 2009 with a 28 cent polar bear stamp.

For about 30 minutes my family sat around the dinner table debating if the horses were riding into the sunset, or towards the camera!  One foot looks like it is facing one way, and the other foot the other direction.  Also, is the tail in front, or in back??

Texas - Port Isabel Lighthouse

23rd National Post Card Week
May 7-13, 2006

Port Isabel Lighthouse was built in 1853, and operated until 1905.  I was used by both the Confederate and Union forces during the Civil war for observation.  Now open to the public, it is operated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife.  You may climb a spiral stairway (74) steps) to the top for a spectacular view across Laguna Madre to South Padre Islands.

Set your course for the Gulf of Mexico and sail into the port for a visit to the Rio Grande Valley.

Texas - Wagon Wheel at Six Flags, Fiesta Texas

The Wagon Wheel

Hop aboard and hold on as your spin around on the two-seat gondola that suspends riders like spokes in a wheel.  As it spins the ride lifts at an angle while sending the rider skyward in an exhilarating circle.
