Netherlands - Walcheren, Zeeland
Walcheren
The sender writes:
Walcheren is part of the province "Zeeland" where I live. It is a beautiful province, quiet and with a lot of water. The flag on the card is of our province and the statue is Michiel de Ruyter, an admiral born in my hometown 400 years ago.

Walcheren is a former island in the province of Zeeland in the Netherlands at the mouth of the Scheldt estuary.
Originally, Walcheren was an island, but polders and a dam across the Oosterschelde have connected it to the (former) island of Zuid-Beveland, which in turn has been connected to the North Brabant mainland.

Zeeland (Zealand) is the westernmost province of the Netherlands. The province, located in the south-west of the country, consists of a number of islands (hence its name, meaning "sea-land") and a strip bordering Belgium.
Large parts of Zeeland are below sea level.
