Mississippi - Tupelo, Elvis' Birthplace

Elvis Presley's Birthplace

Elvis Presley was born in this house January 8, 1935.  The dwelling built by his father is located in Tupelo, Mississippi and is open to the public.

Photo by Don Lanca... (the name is covered with a stamp)  I'm guessing it is Don Lancaster.

The sender writes:
Tupelo is only 100 miles from Graceland and is a must see for Elvis fans!  In addition to the house, there is a museum, the church he attended, and various other things.  It's very interesting to see his humble beginnings.

Greetings From Route LQ (Hotel chain La Quinta)

Weight Gain? This chair could make anyone look smaller.

World's Largest Rocking Chair
Got a big baby in the car? Pull on over and check out this oversized rocking chair made by Dedeaux Clan Furniture.  It may not put them to sleep, but it's fun enough to distract them for at least a little while.  The Dedeaux Furniture factory, located behind the enormous rocker, also makes handcrafted solid oak furniture for normal-sized humans.

Mississippi - Tupelo, Rex Plaza Hotel and Cottages

Rex Plaza
Hotel and Cottages
in Tupelo, Mississippi

Heart of Deep South

New and modern Highway Hotel in heart of the enchanting Old Deep South.  On best route from great American Mid-West to Florida.  See famous Shiloh Park, 70 mles norht and famous Azalea Garden to south on Route 45.

My guess is this is before Elvis was famous, he was born in Tupelo. His career started in 1954 and this card mentions places to visit, but nothing about Elvis.

Mississippi Sate Capitol at Night
Jackson, Mississippi

The state capitol is the third capitol building built in the city of Jackson. The first building was completed in 1822, the second in 1833 and the current building was completed in 1903.

It was designed by Theodore Link at a cost of $1,093,641 dollars, which was paid by the Illinois Central Railroad by the back taxes they owed the state.
