Canada - Vancouver Island
Wickaninnish Beach, Vancouver Island, British Columbia
Experience the beauty and grandeur of this magnificient beach in the Pacific Rim National Park.
The sender writes:
There are many beaches like this in British Columbia and Victoria. We have a lot of trees and forests here as well. We don't have a lot of fairs or community functions but we have a few. There is the Luxton Rodeo, which has horse shows and rides with food that happens at the end of May! We also have a lot of races (running) and walk-a-thons that raise money for different kinds of cancers and diseases like MS. Camping is also a big thing here in Canada. Taking a tent and traveling outside the city you live in.

Canada - British Columbia, Craigellachie, The Last Spike, Railway
British Columbia
The Last Spike
Craigellachie
Canada
Here was driven the "Last Spike" of the Canadian Pacific Railway, connecting the rails from east to west, on November 7, 1885.

Craigellachie is a locality in British Columbia, located several kilometres to the west of the Eagle Pass summit between Sicamous and Revelstoke.
It was named after the village of Craigellachie on the River Spey in Moray, Scotland, the ancestral home of Sir George Stephen, the first president of the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR). At a critical time in the railway's development, Stephen travelled to Britain to raise desperately needed capital funding; when he succeeded, he telegraphed his associates in Canada quoting the familiar motto of Clan Grant: "Stand fast, Craigellachie!"

Canada - British Columbia, Cathedral Grove, Giant Trees
Cathedral Grove, Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada
Photo Eric J. Cooke
Cathedral Grove in MacMillan Park on Hwy. No. 4 between Parksville and the Albernis is a living monument of giant Douglas Fir Trees and other native species.
The largest are 800 years old, but most sprouted when a fire opened the forest about 300 years ago.
Vancouver, Island, British Columbia
1995

To give it a little perspective: The oldest trees sprouted when Genghis Khan was alive - or about 300 years before Columbus found America!
