Hong Kong - Sha Tin District, Amah Rock

The Amah Rock Mentioned in Local Folklore.

Amah Rock is a naturally shaped rock located on a hilltop in southwest Sha Tin District, Hong Kong.

According to a legend, the faithful wife of a fisherman climbed the hills every day, carrying her son, to watch for the return of her husband, not knowing he had been drowned at sea. In reward for her faithfulness she was turned into a rock by the Goddess of the Sea so that her spirit could unite with that of her husband.

At the tip of the Kowloon Peninsula this is the heart and soul of Hong Kong and is best reached by taking the scenic Star Ferry from Central. In this view are the dome of the Space Museum, the Cultural Centre, where art exhibitions and concerts are held and across the street the historic & luxurious Peninsula Hotel, built in 1928 and expanded in 1994.

Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Pieis (error: should read 'Pier is') a pier located at the southernmost tip of Tsim Sha Tsui on Kowloon Peninsula.  It operates the pedestrian ferry service across Victoria Harbour to Wan Chai andto (error: should read 'and to') Central on Hong Kong Island.

A Symphony of Lights is a synchronised building exterior decorative light and laser multimedia display, featuring 44 buildings on both sides of the Victoria Harbour of Hong Kong accompanied by music. The technology was developed by Australian firm Laservision and cost approximately 44 million HK dollars. It has attracted over 4 million visitors and locals so far, and is held every night for ten minutes.

Guinness World Records has named A Symphony of Lights the world's largest permanent light and sound show.

This postcard is an ordinary market in Hong Kong.  It has fresh ingredients, food, fruits, meat, fish,... for people to make their meal.  It is cheaper than in the supermarket.  These markets open at 6am / 7am, very early, and they close around 7/8pm.  You can visit this market when you come to Hong Kong.
