Hello! from the Big Orange!
Eau Gallie / Melbourne, Florida, USA
International Postcard Week
6-12 October 2019
This postcard highlights a tacky eyesore "Big Orange" built in 1966 by Adger Smith, a lifelong resident of Eau Gallie. It was used as a welcome station by the chamber of commerce to dispense orange juice to tourists. Big Orange has managed to escape all attempts to demolish the gaudy eyesore. In fact it is so ugly it has become an icon to the sophisticated Melbourne (formerly the city of Eau Gallie) residents.
This multi view postcard features a statue and a mural of a Scuba Diver and many sponges for sale.

Cocoa Beach was the setting for the 1960s sitcom I Dream of Jeannie, although no episodes were actually filmed there, and star Barbara Eden only made two visits during the show's production — both in 1969, for publicity.
