"The Grand View Window"
On a clear day, see spectacular Mt. Hood from the Main Lobby, Timberline Lodge.  The window is framed by handmade drapes woven between 1975 - 1977 duplicating the spirit of the original 1930's WPA designs.  Hand carved Ramshead table and wrought iron light are part of the historic furnishings.

Is it just me or is this a really bad postcard - they write about the lovely view, but the picture only has a little snow in the window, and the hand carved Ramshead table has no lighting on it, so it is too dark to see the carvings! That being said, I still opened up my purse and bought it!

Built in the late 1930s, the National Historic Landmark sits at an elevation of 5,960 feet (1,817 m), within the Mount Hood National Forest and is accessible through the Mount Hood Scenic Byway. It is a popular tourist attraction, drawing more than a million visitors annually. It is noted in film for serving as the exterior of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining.
The Shining is a 1980 psychological horror film directed by Stanley Kubrick, co-written with novelist Diane Johnson, and starring Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, and Danny Lloyd. The film is based on the novel of the same name, by Stephen King, about a writer with a wife and young son who accepts the job of an off-season caretaker at an isolated hotel.
