California - The Golden State in Large Letters

Greetings from California
The Golden State

California, nicknamed "The Golden State," became part of the union as the 31st state September 9, 1850.  California has been famed for the Gold Rush starting in 1848 and more recently, Hollywood, home of the Stars.

Because California is such a large state the climate and landscape can vary dramatically from one area to the next.

From front:
C=Santa Monica Beach
A=Mule Canyon Ghost Town
L=California Poppies
I-Mohave Desert
F=Happy Camp (home of Big Foot)
O=Jalama Beach
R=East on Route 66 Desert Scene
N=Old Gold Mine in Yreka
I=Golden Eagle
A=Mount Shasta

Happy National Postcard Week 2013
