Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is wrapped in distinguishing black and white stripes and is considered a national treasure. Rising 193 feet from sea level, Cape Hatteras is the tallest lighthouse in America. The lighthouse was moved 2900 - feet in 1999 in order to save it from the encroaching shore.
