Acadia National Park
Although no longer manned, the Bass harbor Head Light has been active since it was built in 1858. One of four lighthouses in the area, it is the only one actually on Mount Desert Island and easily accessible.

The ocean section of Park Loop Road is one of the most spectacular scenic roads on the east coast. With the ocean on one side and mountains rising on the other, this road traverses the best of both worlds.
