Montezuma Castle, Arizona - The best preserved cliff dwelling in the United States and one of the most spectacular of its type was built in part probably as early as 1100 A.D., and probably was deserted by 1425 . It is preserved as a National Monument, and visitors so desiring are guided up the ladders by Park Service personnel.
